Your own rules

A record cannot tell a reader how much to risk; it can only be read against rules the reader already holds. The help pages describe the controls a follower has while a copy runs. This page writes each control as a rule with a number in it, says what the pages state about its limit, and leaves the numbers to the reader.
Rules are sentences with numbers
"Equity falls to USD 800" is a rule. "If it goes badly" is not. The difference matters because the platform can only act on a number: the equity stop loss takes a level, the allocation takes an amount, the filters take an age or a fee. A rule written after a fall has begun is written under the pressure of the fall. This page does not choose the numbers.
A rule in a sentence, the control for it, and what the pages say limits it
Controls and limits are from help.ctrader.com/ctrader-copy/investing-in-strategies and help.ctrader.com/ctrader-copy/account-and-strategy-page, read on 6 November 2026. The first column is what a reader could write down before copying; this site recommends none of them.
| A rule the reader could write | The control the help pages describe | What the pages say limits it |
|---|---|---|
| End the copy if equity falls to a level | Equity stop loss: copying stops and positions close when equity drops below the set level; funds return to the parent account. | "Not a guaranteed stop-out price"; final equity may be lower because of volatility, gaps, liquidity or technical factors. |
| Put in no more than a set amount | The amount allocated when starting; funds can be added or removed later. | It must reach the strategy's minimum; below the minimum, funds cannot be withdrawn while copying; sizes are recalculated on every change. |
| Leave when a set date or condition arrives | Stop copying at any time. | Open positions are closed first, fees are charged, and a closed market can leave the copy in Stopping. |
| Pay no more than a set fee | The fee line on the Start copying button, shown before the copy starts. | The button sits inside the application; fees can be changed only after the strategy is stopped and no investors remain. |
| Copy only records older than a set age | The Strategy age filter in More filters. | The age is the strategy's, and the pages read do not say what came before. |
| Avoid one instrument | Check the Symbols tab and the Volume breakdown. | The filters listed on the strategy-list page do not include a symbol filter. |
| Keep leverage at least equal to the provider's | The leverage of the account chosen when copying starts. | A lower leverage than the provider's can mean insufficient margin and an earlier stop out. |
The stop loss, in plain arithmetic
The stop loss is set as a level of equity, and the loss at the trigger is what lies between the allocation and that level. The table gives three levels on USD 1,000. The help page's warning applies to all of them: a stop loss is not a guaranteed price, and a gap or a thin market can take the final equity below the level.
An equity stop loss written as arithmetic
Arithmetic on an allocation of USD 1,000 with the stop level set at three illustrative points. The loss at the trigger is the allocation less the level. The page warns that the final equity may be lower than the level.
| Stop level (USD) | Loss at the trigger (USD) | As a share of the allocation |
|---|---|---|
| 900 | 100 | 10% |
| 800 | 200 | 20% |
| 700 | 300 | 30% |
What the 29-day curves do and do not say about stops
Inside the 29-day window the largest fall on any card is 36.79 points, and 4 of 20 cards fell by 10 points or more. The unit of those points is the card's own and not a share of an investor's allocation, so this site does not say which stop level any of them would have met. The curves show that falls of that size occurred inside a window of four weeks on some cards; they do not show how a stop at any level would have fared.
Minimum investment printed on each card, and a stop at 80% of it
Minimums are printed on the cards in US dollars. The last column is the loss at the trigger if a stop were set at 80% of the minimum allocation, as arithmetic; it ignores the slippage the page warns of. Creation order. Read on 6 November 2026.

The floor that a minimum makes
The minimum investment is also a floor on withdrawals: while copying, funds cannot be taken out if equity would fall below it. On the card with the largest minimum the allocation has to be USD 50,000 and on the smallest USD 100. A reader's own maximum amount is either above that floor or the card is out of reach; the table lets the reader see which.
What the platform can do and what it leaves to the reader
The platform can stop a copy at a level, close positions, charge fees and move the funds back. It does not choose a level, does not say how many strategies to hold, and does not know about the reader's other money. It treats each strategy as its own copy-trading account; the fees page says that when an investor copies several strategies, "fees will be applied to each dedicated copy-trading account independently". Any rule across several copies is therefore the reader's to keep.

Questions about how a record is made
Is an equity stop loss a guarantee?
No, by the help page's own warning.
Can I change the stop level later?
Yes. The page says to select the same button and adjust the level.
What if I withdraw funds below my stop level?
The page says the equity stop loss is then removed automatically.
Does the platform filter by instrument?
The filters listed on the strategy-list page are account type, ROI, period, strategy age, demo copying permission, management fee, live investors, performance fee, investor funds, volume fee and own funds; symbol is not among them.
The broker this site links to
The site links to FxPro, which cTrader's list marks as a copy-enabled broker. A record is the provider's; the account a copy runs on is the follower's, and its result is a different document. Whether the copy service is open to a resident of Kenya is for FxPro to say.
